China Biggest Exporter in the World

China Biggest Exporter in the World

The latest statsitics show that China has overtaken Germany as the biggest export country in the world - a significant sign of change.

China's share of world exports is now 10 per cent, compared to 3 per cent as late as 1999. The share increased during the crisis. When other countries have struggled with shrinking economies, China only suffered a slight reduction in growth. Therefore, change speeds up.

This is all very good. China's prosperity benefits us all. But it also shows how Europe is decreasing in significance. And this development will change the power of balance and the power of the ideas of our different regimes.

China's prosperity is good for us all, but combined with increased European growth - following reform - it is even better.

Future rol of Europe

Posted by Matthijs van den Broek at 07:06
The current global economic crisis has accelerated shifts on the global economic stage. In particular, export-depending Asian nations have received a wake-up call as far as their reliance on trade with the West is concerned. Domestic consumption in Asia is speeded up and new trade routes are emerging fast: Intra-Asian trade & investment, Asia-Middle East trade & investment and South-South trade & investment, are thé trading routes of the decades to come. Europe should define a future course of its own, less intertwined with the U.S. Europe should relinguish its minority complex in relation to the U.S., take the lead on a global scale and team up with new partners !
