Biography:
Fredrik Segerfeldt is a blogger and freelance writer. Holder of a Master’s Degree in European Politics, he is the author of several reports and books on a wide range of economic and social issues. Most notably, his Water for sale – how business and the market can resolve the world’s water crisis (Washington DC: CATO Institute 2005) has attracted considerable attention. Segerfeldt is also the author of the EEI report In defence of EU enlargement and of the EEI brief The crisis and the poor: A second look. His most recent book is Do No Harm – the Hippocratic Oath of Foreign Aid (Stockholm, Timbro 2009). Segerfeldt has extensive experience from think-tanks and business organisations, such as The Swedish Employers’ Confederation, Business Europe, The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, Timbro and The New Welfare Foundation. His texts have appeared in media outlets such as the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal Europe, LeMonde, European Voice and Washington Post. Segerfeldt’s main areas of research are foreign aid and development in poor countries, taxes and welfare programmes in the EU, labour policies and Eastern Europe and EU enlargement.
